Friend of the podcast Jamal Yusuf joins to share some of his fitness expertise. We discuss whether working negatives and half reps into your regimen makes sense, static vs. active stretching, the power of visualization and matching up body and mind, and the current social media "fitfam" epidemic.

Brandon Scott is a media extraordinaire. With experience ranging from newspaper to radio, online journalism to television, the show's old friend jumps on to recap an unforgettable Super Bowl.
We discuss the forgotten plays and unsung heroes of the big game, this one's spot in the pantheon, the game's real MVP, obnoxious Atlanta Falcons fans eating crow, the possibly bleak future for the San Francisco 49ers under new head coach Kyle Shanahan, and most importantly why I love Tom Brady so much.

S1E10: Mike And Chance Show #TBT
Exactly one year ago today, Chance Davis and I launched a new podcast: "The Mike and Chance Show." There was but one episode ever recorded, and as an anniversary tribute to something I created with my best friend, I decided to play it out for you all again here.
Exactly one year ago today, Chance Davis and I launched a new podcast: "The Mike and Chance Show." There was but one episode ever recorded, and as an anniversary tribute to something I created with my best friend, I decided to play it out for you all again here.
"The Mike and Chance Show" aimed to be the podcast for an otherwise abandoned multimedia project I developed call "Urbane Circle." While "the U.C." didn't quite take off as I had imagined, "The Mike Silva Show" is very much what I had envisioned for "The Mike and Chance Show."
Circumstances prevailed that prevented further recordings of "The Mike and Chance Show," but there are definitely future plans to have Chance incorporated in "The Mike Silva Show."
In this episode, we discuss what the overall premise of the show (6:15), the way texting had affected dating (14:42), receiving pixelated "nudes" in the olden days (18:58), how the game has changed (26:40), what Facebook has become (29:42), "situationships" (35:30), the ramifications of the infamous "double tap" (37:37), thirst traps and click bait (40:35), and the different types of Instagram users (45:10).
As part of the usual Mike Silva Show layout with sports and pop culture, I also discuss the return of professional football to Los Angeles (47:30) and a hidden gem of a movie on Netflix (50:07).
Please listen and always enjoy.
“Nah, I ain’t never had no itch.”
S1E9: Online Dating and the NFL Coaching Carousel
Happy New Year to all and welcome back to a slight restructured Mike Silva Show. Joc'quese Casel joins me to discuss the nuances of online dating and the after effects of Black Monday in the NFL.
Happy New Year to all and welcome back to a slight restructured Mike Silva Show. Joc'quese Casel joins me to discuss the nuances of online dating and the after effects of Black Monday in the NFL.
We dive right in with the introduction to online dating for millennials in MySpace (1:57), our personal catfish encounters (5:29), the complexities of meeting someone online (8:10), red flags with online romance (12:10), getting coaxed into online cam shows (19:10), Tinder (22:55), and a recap of it all (32:40).
Jumping into sports, we get into the surprise in the Indianapolis Colts retaining Chuck Pagano (34:30), the future of Chip Kelly (38:40), Johnny Manziel a.k.a. Billy Vegas (41:24), and a retrospective look at the San Francisco 49ers' decision to fire Jim Harbaugh after last season (43:10).
“Gerrynishufuckup!”
S1E8b: The Three Man Holiday Pod with Joc and Gerry
'Tis the season. Cuffing season, that is. What is it about that time period between Thanksgiving and New Years that makes people want to get locked in? How do you avoid getting trapped?

Recurring guests Joc'quese Casel and Gerry Squirewell answer those questions with me, plus much more.
In Part 2 of a two-part episode, we also get into the value of having friends that are girls, keeping it real when it comes time to meet the parents, and surviving a long-distance relationship. Tune in and listen to the finale of another strong episode of "The Mike Silva Show".
“Yeah, I’m all about them pics boy... What do you think about that chico?”
S1E8a: The Three Man Holiday Pod with Joc and Gerry
Do you remember the awesome feeling of a great new video game... On Super Nintendo? Are there truly any good Christmas movies, or just a bunch of generic family channel flicks?

In Part 1 of a two-part episode, we also get into holiday traditions and how commercialized each and every holiday has become. Why the hell is there a "National Cookie Day"? I have no clue either. Tune in and listen to an entertaining entry of the podcast.
“I guess you could say Tails was like a plant, right? It had no sex...?”
S1E7: Joc Casel On Culture, Social Media, and Famous Firsts
Longtime friend and the frequently mentioned Joc'quese Casel drops in.
We talk about cultural differences based on geography, the pros and cons of moving around a lot and being the "new kid" growing up, and social media today vs. yesterday and what it's become.

We talk about cultural differences based on geography, the pros and cons of moving around a lot and being the "new kid" growing up, and social media today vs. yesterday and what it's become.
We also go over how we met and talk about some of life's milestones, like our first ticket (for "trespassing" at our old high school), first apartment (or home away from home), and our first strip club encounter (worth the listen).
Another topic mentioned was our failed attempts at launching a rap duo: Team Ego. Check out Joc's terrible intro video, along with mine.
You can follow Joc on Snapchat @JocPierre and on Instagram @PierreStyle.
“Steve was in the good ol’ flip-flops. You know, the Hollister days.”
S1E6: Music Industry and Rap Game with Ramiro Gonzalez
What separates a musician or artist from someone that just gets radio play? How can you tell if someone will truly blow up vs. those that just fizzle out with each trendy song? What can we make of the hip-hop industry today?
Scoremore's Ramiro Gonzalez stops by to give the inside scoop on the state of hip-hop. Who's cool, who's an asshole, and what truly makes a difference in becoming an icon?

We discuss the influence of today's biggest names, including Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and Drake. We discuss Houston's current rap scene and how we need a big star to represent the city. Ramiro also shares some stories from behind-the-scenes within the music industry.
Find Ramiro on Twitter @713rome and Instagram, also @713rome.
“One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen at a concert: Terrence Jones coming to a concert in a Terrence Jones jersey.”
S1E5: Houston Sports with Alan Lucas and Armani Lee
Now is a very eventful time for Houston sports - for both the good and the bad. The Texans are in first* (tied, big asterisk) and the Rockets fired Kevin McHale after a handful of successful, if underwhelming, seasons.
Alan Lucas stops by to talk about the Rockets.

Alan Lucas stops by to talk about the Rockets. He follows the team closer than anyone I know. In fact, as this posts, he's probably at tonight's Rockets-Blazers matchup at the Toyota Center. What went wrong, where can we improve, who's the problem...
Plus, Armani Lee chimes in halfway through the show to talk about the Texans. The ho-hum team finally showed some life in Monday night's win over the (until then unbeaten) Cincinnati Bengals with a 10-6 victory. Are Texans fans getting their hopes up for long haul only to be let down, or are there some redeemable qualities to this newly motivated team.
All these questions and many more explored in the fifth episode of "The Mike Silva Show".
NOTE: We didn't even talk Astros, but I'd love to hear your take on the team's overachieving season. With the AL Cy Young Winner in Dallas Keuchel and AL Rookie of the Year in Carlos Correa, how bright of a future does this team have? Leave a comment to spark a conversation about this team's ceiling.
S1E4: Relationships and Such with Antonio Bonamy
This episode of "The Mike Silva Show" features my good friend Antonio Bonamy.
As a nice change of pace, we discuss a new, but very relevant, topic for the show: relationships. We explore general love life philosophies, sex, finding that special someone, timing, and much more.
